Electrical Installations, Fault-Finding & Repairs
Electrical Inspections & Condition Reports
Electrical safety in the home and commercial premises is very important to us – and should be to you too!
All electrical installations deteriorate with age and continued use. They should therefore be tested and inspected at regular intervals to check they are in a satisfactory condition for continued use.
We recommend testing at least every 10 years for an owner-occupied home and every five years for a rented home. It’s also wise to have the electrics inspected and tested before you sell or buy a property, and landlords are required to have a professional survey of the electrics before letting out a property.
Active Fire & Security have a team of fully qualified electricians equipped with all the tools necessary to conduct electrical safety checks and issue an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR).
Our registered electricians carry out periodic electrical safety inspections against the UK standard BS 7671, checking things such as switches, sockets, light fittings, switchgear and control gear, earthing and bonding, the condition of the wiring system, wear and tear or damage, and any use of the premises which might give rise to unsafe conditions.
We are competent to issue an Electrical Installation Condition Report after the inspection which details any damage, deterioration, defects or dangers. If the condition of your electrics is found to be “unsatisfactory” we are able to make repairs and take remedial action to remove the risks.
We give fixed price quotes for fault-finding and repairs at highly competitive prices, and carry out the work required quickly and efficiently with minimal disruption.
A lot of our work involves replacing old and outdated consumer units – often referred to as the “fuse box” – which is found at the point where the electrical supply enters your property. Housing the main switches, residual current devices and circuit breakers it protects you and your property from electrical injury or damage by “tripping the switch” when something goes wrong.
We carry out consumer unit upgrades according to industry best practice, recommending a suitable consumer unit model for the purpose and budget of the client. We are also experienced at rewiring residential properties as part of renovation projects in compliance with Part P of the Building regulations.
Active Fire & Security is happy to assist you with any general electrical repair and maintenance work and installations, including lighting, safety and security systems. We offer free no-obligation quotations and work across a wide area around the cities of Bath and Bristol.
